Accepting submissions for Poetry Now

POETRY NOW, a publication of the Sacramento Poetry Center, is pleased to announce a call for submissions for our 2012 issues. Poetry Now runs about 500 publications when printed, which go out to the vibrant poetry community in the Sacramento/Davis metropolitan area–including all of our members. A copy of the publication is also posted on our website.

We accept submissions of poetry and visual art, as well as poetry-related articles, book reviews, and interviews. As our name describes, we are looking for poetry/work of today, for blood on autumn leaves, for sighs left behind on old elevators, thoughts on aluminum words, hairs in fists, heretic forms, traditional bricks, delicate skipping stones, prophesies to blackness, maroon dawns, socks in 18th century closets, tensions, minuteness, white simplicities, a matchbox of igniting wildflowers….

Submission Guidelines:

  • Type your name, address, phone number, email address, brief bio, and the title of your poem(s)/work on a cover page.
  • Please submit up to 3 poems at a time.
  • Please keep book reviews between 100-250 words and articles between 500-1500 words. Ok to send us inquiry e-mail with your proposal for an article, book review or interview. spcpoetrynow@yahoo.com
  • Visual art/pictures will be considered for the pages of Poetry Now, including cover.
  • Preferred method of submission is online via submishmash, use this url:  http://sacramentopoetrycenter.submishmash.com/submit
  • Submissions may also be sent via email to: spcpoetrynow@yahoo.com, or regular mail to: Poetry Now c/o, Sacramento Poetry Center, 1719 25th St., Sacramento, CA 95816.
