Sacramento Poetry Center’s Real Poets program pairs trained poet mentors with at-risk youth to write original poems about their lives. The project uses poetry to advance emotional recovery from trauma, to instill a sense of pride and to build advanced literacy. Over the past year our poet mentors have facilitated over 350 original poems with youth who range in age from 7 to 22 years old. Learn more about the project at realpoets.org.
